It was a rich and rewarding season demonstrating festival's great potential and pointing toward the future . . .
Efe Baltacigil, principal cellist of Seattle Symphony, delivered a remarkable performance of Haydn's Cello Concerto in C. The young players of Orpheus Academy rose to the occasion. This was undoubtedly the high point of the festival.

Well deserved smiles: Orpheus Academy led by Principal Conductor Travis Hatton takes a bow. The ensemble delivered two concerts of challenging repertoire played with precision and verve. Hatton has proven to be a master pedagogue/conductor and an inspiring leader.
June 21 & July 2, 2014
The Civic Orchestra led by guest conductor David Jacobs made a successful debut at Lincoln Hall performing works by Saint-Saëns, Schnittke and Beethoven.
The first of its kind in the region, the orchestra represents the best of players from the many community orchestras active in the Portland area.

Violin Masterclass
Carla Trynchuk, Director of OMF String Program, offered two masterclasses. An inspirational teacher grouned in the tradition of legendary Dorothy DeLay, Trynchuk delved into the fundamentals of violin technique and its relationship to music.
Travis Hatton, conductor
Principal Conductor of Orpheus Academy led the orchestra in two exciting concerts featuring works by Mahler, Schnittke and Beethoven. His collaboration with cellist Efe Baltacigil in Haydn's tour de force Cello Concerto in C brought the audience to their feet, closing the festival on a high note.

Cello Masterclass
Efe Baltacigil, master teacher and performer, taught with keen pedagogical insight, artistic intensity and musicianship. For the students, these were memorable lessons.
